When can I start?
Our classes are open enrollment, meaning that people can start any time. Our beginner classes are designed so that the brand new person can go through the basics, the 2 month aerialist can continue their conditioning and basic skills, and the experienced aerialist can get a little spicier with their training. All conditioning is tailored to each person's strength and quality of engagement. Each skill learned is based on the mastery of a previous skill. Everyone progresses at their own rate with efficient engagement, proper execution and body longevity in mind.
** Aerial & Pole ARE hard and the journey will expose many personal limiting beliefs. Everyone at the studio will celebrate each accomplishment with you because in your dedication we see a piece of ourselves - we remember our previous won battles, we make light of our current struggles, we celebrate our very real differences, and we remember that our aerial journey is never ending and very personal. **
What do I wear? What do I bring?
FOR ALL: We wear masks for classes, parties, and performances. We like cotton duck billed masks that pull away from the face and surgical style masks. We don't like masks that have a vent or the soft t-shirt ones that cling to our face when we breathe. The first couple of weeks working out with a mask are weird and then we get used to it. Our professional company performs at height with masks with no problem.
Bring a water bottle and a yoga mat if you have one. Please remove all rings, dangling earrings, and belly jewelry that might scratch or snag on apparatuses. Please have clean feet for silks. Wash your hands before and after class.
For Aerial: Wear leggings that cover the back of your knees and a top that covers your belly and underarms and will stay put while upside down. Friction burns happen easily with any exposed skin you might have, so we like to stay covered! No uncovered midriffs, please!
For Pole 1-3: Shorts and a tank top or sports bra. Please bring your own CLEAN hand towel to wipe down your pole. Isopropyl alcohol will be provided. Heels are welcome the last part of the class, although most of us work barefoot.
For Exotic Pole & Floorwork and Pole Flow: Same as Pole, but also bring kneepads and socks or thigh highs to help you slide. Sticky pole knee pads and shoe protectors will be available for purchase at the studio soon. Heels are welcome the last part of class.
What if I’m not strong/fit/sexy?
That’s okay! That’s why we come to classes! You will sweat, you will feel the burn and you will get stronger with each and every class. You are never expected to nail a trick on the first, second, or even tenth try. You are, however, expected to be in the moment and have fun working with your body as it is that day. We have nothing but time.
Also, read this article: Are you strong enough to start aerial classes?
What if I’m strong already, have a gymnastics/dance background, can do 30 pull-ups in a row? Can I start at a higher level?
No. Each apparatus has its own foundational movement, vocabulary, transitions, progressions, puzzles, drops, spins, etc. Being an advanced gymnast or intermediate silks aerialist still makes you a beginner on hoop, pole, tap dance, or rollerblading.
HOWEVER, having upper body and core strength, body awareness, and a discipline for movement will make you progress faster.
For those experienced aerialists transferring from out of town certified studios, message us to see what class we think would fit you best!
Do you offer free classes? Can I try out one class? Do you have packages?
We do not offer free classes, you can purchase a single class any time, there are packages available for purchase in our scheduling system.
Can I come watch a class before I start?
Naw. Students are already brave enough attempting new skills next to their equally challenged, yet rabidly supportive peers.
We want to make sure our students are comfortable learning without spectators.
You can, however, attend any of our shows and performances or JUST SIGN UP FOR A CLASS :-D
We post about events on our facebook page
What if I'm scared to try it around people?
We are all nervous to try new things, it's okay! But if you'd rather work one-on-one with no one else watching, we can do private lessons! Just message us to check for availability.
Note: We cannot do private lessons most weekday evenings because we have group aerial & pole classes going on (come to class!)
